초록
The prefrontal cortex (PFC) is a hub region for high-level cognition. We performed a virtual reality (VR)-based decision-making experiment to describe the correlation between behavioral responses and neuronal activity during tasks in the PFC. First, we used two-photon microscopy to compare neuronal activity between the correct task and the incorrect task. The correct task showed higher neuronal activity than the incorrect task. After the decision-making task, we performed c-Fos staining to confirm neuronal activity in brain regions associated with cognitive function, including the PFC, nucleus accumbens (NAc), and hippocampus. The PFC and NAc showed high levels of c-Fos expression, while the memory function-related hippocampus showed low levels of c-Fos expression. Our data showed that neuronal activities in the PFC were dependent on correct decision-making. Therefore, further studies should be performed on neuronal circuits associated with the PFC.
